Canowindra Weekend.

So last weekend I went to Canowindra for the Pledge Night. It was really great. I love watching the staff and the students pledge for a relationship with God...it's really cool.

So that was fun, as was catching up with some people. That night we had an adventurous walk down to the river. This included climbing over and under barbwire fences, ducking enormous spider webs with huge spiders in them, and stumbling through ankle deep creeks.

I was, in fact, very proud of myself.

I deserved the pancake breakfast the next morning.

Yep :) Good weekend through and through :)

Muster!

The other news from this week/weekend, apart from the Dubbo flood, was Muster. Muster is a Cornerstone gathering that happens once a year, and I've loved going for the past couple of years because you get to see so many people (some that you don't see all too often.)

It started Saturday at 9:00. At the Christian School. Em and I were both pretty alert looking out for 'our girls'.

This wasn't all of us. There were more. But this is just one picture out of many.

Will, Cherry, Georgie, Angela, Jo, Emily...

I cropped myself out because I look really miserable.

I wasn't.

I had a great time.

Anyway. Saturday.

Some of the day was spent wandering around, taking photos, talking, ect. We played Laser Tag for about two hours which was fun. I won. I'm good with a gun.

Then, in the afternoon, we ate, played basketball, played hand-ball, messed around, ect.

That night was the concert. There was lots of talent. Emily got up and sang one of her own songs, which, strangely, made me cry.

Then I got up with all (or most, a few may have been missing) the other Dunn Swamp ( http://jrebekkah-itslife97.blogspot.com/2010/10/dunn-swamp.html) kids and we sang a song together. It was pretty good :).

Sunday Emily and I sat in for a session. The guy talking was a Kiwi who talked really fast and was possibly a little hard to understand at times, but it was still okay.

That afternoon we played a Wide Game with noodles. Possibly this is why my shoulders are so terribly sore today. Because I wielded my noodle so viciously.

Then that afternoon, Muster finished for most. A few stuck around. We swam. And played Mud Volleyball.

I'm still picking grains of sand and dirt out of my hair. It was awesome though.

Good times, good times...

July Weekend

Dad and I went to the Mudgee Farmer's Market last weekend.
It was pretty good.
We walked around, drinking hot chocolate and coffee, while looking at different things.
I really liked the animals. I saw the hugest roosters, the furriest llamas, ate the nicest ice-cream, and also some really good nachos.
But that llama! Honestly, it had soft, fluffy hair that was as deep as my hand is long.
There was also a strange cow that had lots of curly hair and a humongous wet, slimy nose. (Nice description?)
And in the animals nursery we saw this baby llama:

And this tiny foal...
And these cute puppies:

It was pretty good...;D

Oh, and Happy 20th Birthday, Tom

Dubbo Show

Saturday was Day 2 of the Dubbo Show.

I went with friends at about 5:00, entirely innocent of all bad experiences that come about at shows. I had obviously forgotten last year's show.

Anyhow, upon arriving, it was fun to look at all the rides, lighted up, calling to me, urging me to come, pay, ride, and throw up.

I first went on the rollar coaster. Not exactly a thrill ride, but scary enough to make my insides twist and turn. I didn't know that a picture would be taken on this course of horror and I felt a surge of indignity when I saw a terrible picture of myself flashing on a screen. My eyes were large and my head was back in a way that gave me at least two chins. One of the people I was with commented casually that I looked quite like my sister, whose name I will refrain from saying or I would otherwise be describing them as eye-bulging, double-chinned freaks.

Continuing on, another ride I went on was the Cha-Cha. It should have been called The Extreme Game of Corners as everyone riding with someone more than themselves found themselves being pushed onto the person next to them in an almost awkward way.

I also went on the Dodgem Cars. If I remember correctly, a humorous accident occurred at last year's show in which I, in a crazy, out-there mood, knocked over one of the helpers onto his backside while he had only been trying to help me steer myself out of a traffic jam. He fell into one of the spare cars and stared after me with a bewildered expression that I remember with guilt to this day.

I would not let any such thing happen again. This time I only grinned evilly, gritted my teeth, and knocked into any car that held small children. These, of course, could not take any course of revenge so it was all right. I was quite safe. No such promises for them.

I admit I didn't eat anything that could actually be called 'dinner' that night. I did help eat two, expensive bags of fairy floss though, a few very salty chips, and a few sips of the bubbling Creaming Soda.

I was scared of throwing up.

And I was very careful and choosy about what ride I went on. Some were very menacing such as the No Limits, the Mega Drop, and The Zipper (which looked a lot more dangerous that last year's Zipper.)

..............................
The two other rides that I went on was something of which I do not recall the name (although I do recall the sickening feeling in my stomach right before it started), and the other was the Music Trip.

Not a thriller like No Limits, but still scream-worthy.
I didn't get back till 11:00. Worn out, my head spinning, no doubt looking like I had an immense fairy floss hangover.

And I didn't knock anybody over...(!)

Easter Camp, 2010

So, here are some photos from Easter Camp 2010.

This was before the camp's 'mud fight' on Saturday afternoon.
Note please how white my board shorts were and how very clean we look. My friend Cherry and I were walking up to where we ate, went to the bathroom, and played sports.

People were still relatively clean at this point.

Me and Hannah.

And so it began.

Mud football.

Tug O' War in the mud. We had two of these. We won once, and lost once.

Cleaning out our ears and eyes of mud.

More Tug O' War.

Group shot.

Another group shot. Can you pick me out?

Who could this disgusting-looking creature be?

Washing off in the freezing cold river. It worked surprisingly well.

So yeah, it was pretty good. I really liked the mud fights, the singing, the talks, the games, the food, ect.
Last night after I finished writing the previous blog entry, I went into the shower and picked out numerous pieces of grass and hay out of my hair, removed mud and dust from everywhere, and tried to pick splinters out of my feet.
This morning I unpacked my bag.
It really...really did not smell very good.
I guess you don't notice it so much when everyone smells that way.
I don't have anything much planned for this week of the Easter Holidays. Next week Emily and I are going to Bourke again. And then...it's back to the daily grind...not coffee.

Back!

I just got back from Easter Camp 2010.

I am disgusting, grubby, dirty, tired, zonked out, and I don't smell too hot either. I am going to have along, hot shower.

I'll post photos soon.

Update on the Weekend

Last night we arrived back in Dubbo after our short weekend trip up to Brisbane and back.

54 hours away.

14-15 hours of them were sleep.

24 of those hours were travelling.

- and the rest of those included eating, sleeping, talking, and everything else that took up our time.

It's not the sleep bit, that I can handle. It's the 24 hours of travelling.

My backside is incredibly sore and the rest of me is stiff which explains why I'm hunched over the keyboard typing like a mad scientist.

My schedule went something like:

Read.

Read.

Listen to music.

Read.

Listen to music.

Watch a movie on the kindest sister's laptop.

Read.

Stop, eat something.

Get back in the car.

Groan.

Read.

Read.

The wedding that we went up for was nice.

Dressed up.

Model shot (Yes, we do these a lot ;D)
All of us. (Note: That is the dress that I got at the op-shop for $4.50....pretty cool....)
It was a good weekend though, how ever busy it was....I'm just glad that it's over...
Tessie was staying with friends over the weekend and got VERY spoilt. She didn't want to come home.
I think she liked their doggie door....
Well, that's really all....It's a pretty boring post, nothing funny, but I thought I'd give you the heads up on what we did.

Letter

Dear People Who May Happen to Glance Upon my Blog Every Now and Again,

Hi, how are you? I'm okay.

I'm sorry that I am lazy. I've not posted much lately. Life seems to be, "school", "school", "school", and "lets go away for the weekend."

Ex.

  • 2 weekends ago we went camping.
  • Last weekend was a birthday party/ camp out.
  • This weekend coming is my cousin's wedding up in Brisbane.
  • Next weekend is my Youth's 'Easter Camp.'
  • The weekend after that is 2ND week of Easter holidays, Emily and I are going to Bourke.

So, yes. That's my excuse for being lazy and not writing more.

What have I been doing lately?

  • I am bravely trying to read Lord of the Rings, with the temptation that I can watch the movie at the end.
  • Emily and I entered into the Dubbo Eisteddfod that will happen in June, I think. I entered into-
  1. Piano Duet with Emily
  2. Bible Reading, Jeremiah 34, 1-7. (A few hard-to-pronounce names there: Lachish? Azekah? Zedekiah? Any idea on pronunciation?)
  3. Prose Reading, 13-15 years, Approx 175 words from “The Outsiders” by S E Hinton, “Tomorrow when the War Began” by John Marsden, or “All the Rivers Run By” by Nancy Cato.
  4. Sight Reading, Preparation Time, 1 Minute.
  5. Duologues- Own Choice, Excerpt from any play, Time limit: 3. (With Emily)

So that'll keep me busy too.

  • There was a little bit of Op shopping last week. I got a really nice dress for $4.50. ;D
  • I'm watching The Merchant of Venice with Mum and Emily.
  • I'm continuously getting a little weirded out by my family. Right now they're singing 'Smelly Cat' in the kitchen. Look it up on youtube when you're done this and you'll see why I'm concerned.

Now, I had better get ready for school. I'll see you when I see you,

Yours truly,

Camping on the Weekend

This weekend, we went camping.
Out in the bush.
With snakes and spiders and stuff.
It was quite fun.
And we went with friends, which made it better still...
o here are so photos from the weekend.

First there was the setting up of tents. I was paired with Kaity, and Emily was paired with Angela. The tent on the left is the one that Kaity and I did, or at least tried to do.

As you can see, Mum and Dad just sat back and watched while Kaity and I sweated and pulled and tried to keep the tent from blowing away.

A smug Angela and Emily.

And then the rest of us arrived and it started all over again.

And then we had to start a fire...

And were finally rewarded with a glorious sunset.
The kind that you don't usually get to see in Dubbo.
Where we were staying was pretty nice for scenery...
But with nice scenery comes....

...All the things that live in it.
This fellow was hiding behind some tree bark. It's mate was almost double the size.
I normally have a bad case of arachnophobia when I see a medium sized spider, you know, shaking all over, inward shrieking, that kind of thing.
So when I saw this thing........woah!

We spent the time with music...

...and games, such as Monopoly, Snorka (?), Cards, and Balderdash....(Did you know that the word 'Duddyfunk' means a New England Pie!?)

Photography...
Model shot: I like this picture, even though I look like I'm in pain.

So yeah, it was pretty fun...apart from that creepy spider in the tree bark...and those two huge ones at the information centre...and that large one that built a huge web in just a couple of hours and then took it down in the night and was discovered on the car about fifteen metres away, only to be killed by dad.......
Yeah, apart from them.
