Some 'That''s

I know I need to blog. I just don't want to start. This is because I know that when I start I'll suddenly become overwhelmed with thoughts like "Oh, you need to write about that too." and "You can't say this without adding that."

I don't like those 'that's.'

They make blogging much harder.

Oh well. Let us begin.

First things first. Our beautiful foster baby.

She is six or seven weeks now. She cries a lot but she also gives the cutest smiles in the world. The kind that make you want to eat her face right off.

We took her away with us to Bourke for Easter. The Easter Service, which I've blogged about a couple of years back, is a freezing event starting at 6:00 in the morning. She was bundled in blankets with a cute, red beanie on. I think she was asleep for most of it. C.o.m.p.l.e.t.e.l.y.a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e.

Whaaaat else have I been doing?

  • Big sister Kylie visited for two weeks. That was good.

  • I've decided to go to Teen Missions at the end of this year. (TURKEY, KENYA, OR CHILE??!)

  • I'm prepaaaaaring for the Eistedfford in June. It's coming closer. I'm doing lots as I've said. The duologue is going to be with my friend Annabelle. Something from The Importance of Being Ernest I think.

  • I know I promised to give pictures from Broken Hill (it was very good, thank you for asking)....but...I lied. Sorry. I meant well. But I didn't many. And. Yeah. Sorry.

Instead I leave you with this totally random picture of me and Emily's camera. I am jealous of this camera. Good bye.

I LOVE....

I love...

  • our new, first foster baby. A cute little girl who we've nicknamed Simba :). Cutest. Smile. Ever.

  • the 'Annie' soundtrack. I found the movie on television the other night. I had completely forgotten about it from my childhood :). I've been crazy about the songs ever since.

  • the fact that I'm going to a drama camp in Broken Hill tommorow (photos, I promise)

  • the fact that I AM ON HOLIDAYS FOR AN EXTRA WEEK.

  • Harry Potter.

  • The Hunger Game series.

  • the room that I spent a few hours cleaning today which is now dust and rubbish free. Very good. Very impressive.

  • Tessie when she's flea-free and smell-free after a good bath and haircut.

That is all.

We love you, Ms. Hannigan.

Weekly :)

What did I do this week?

Well, I'm beginning to like Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays. They're so quiet. So uneventful.

I do school and then- the day is mine. Sometimes I read Harry Potter. Occassionally I clean my room. I go for walks. I listen to music.

Thursdays are a little different.

I work on Thursdays.

And it's not so bad. I mostly make sandwiches...and wraps, which, I admit, are pretty tasty-looking. And I serve little children. Big eyes look up at me from below and hands rest on the counter trying to see above it.

I think I scare them sometimes. Especially when they say something like- "can I have a slush puppie?"

And I'm like- "What's that?" and lean in real close to get a chance at hearing their whispers. And they stare at me with large eyes and whimper a little before stuttering out their question again.

But it's still good.

And Fridays. They are busy. I help a friend with cleaning and babysitting. Then I have girl's group. Then youth group.

I like helping this friend though. Because she happens to have a very cute toddler, and a very adorable baby.

It was kind of funny on Wednesday. I was helping this friend. I was sweeping the back veranda while she sat out there feeding the baby. I lifted a cushion on the outside chair, screamed, and let go of the cushion, jumping backwards.

She stared at me.

"There was a mouse."

"Are you kidding?"

I shook my head.

"I don't like mice."

"Me either."

So for the next few minutes we had a bit of fun. We dragged the chair as gently as possible out onto the grass and squealed as the mouse jumped out at us. I grabbed a broom. My friend grabbed a cricket bat. We were armed. We were ready.

The baby started to cry. "Normally my husband hits the mouse over the fence with the cricket bat!" she said.

Finally the mouse crawled under a bin.

"I'll lift up the bin and you hit it with the cricket bat," I said. She nodded.

"Go!"

I lifted it up. The mouse, crushed under the weight of the bin lay on it's back. All four of it's legs waved feebly in the air. "Finish him!" I urged.

"I caaaaaan't!" she wailed. "I can't do it!"

I thrust the bin back down and took the bat in irritation. "I'll do it then!"

She lifted it. And I couldn't do it. It was just too innocent. So we left it under the bin for a while. Then we chucked it over the fence.

Strange experience.

Wednesday?

Ahh Wednesdays...I like them :)

They're quite quiet...schoolwork in the mornings, a bit of cleaning, a bit more schoolwork...

Nice quiet days...

But sometimes you get little things, strange or good, thrown in...they make your days a little more interesting...

Like the middle-aged lady walking down the road very obviously picking her nose...in a long, thin, yellow stream of....yeuch...you get the picture -_-

And then there are the good times when you get invited to a ten-year-old's birthday party...and you eat just as much ice-cream as the little kids, or more... :D

Ah good times, good times... (I like ice-cream)

And then there are the amazing times...when you hide away in your messy room and eat flavoured bubblegum (which loses it's delicious strawberry flavour much to quickly) while reading Harry Potter, my favourite book as of late.

Yes, I like these times.

That was my Wednesday.

Canowindra Weekend.

So last weekend I went to Canowindra for the Pledge Night. It was really great. I love watching the staff and the students pledge for a relationship with God...it's really cool.

So that was fun, as was catching up with some people. That night we had an adventurous walk down to the river. This included climbing over and under barbwire fences, ducking enormous spider webs with huge spiders in them, and stumbling through ankle deep creeks.

I was, in fact, very proud of myself.

I deserved the pancake breakfast the next morning.

Yep :) Good weekend through and through :)

I am a lazy blogger. It's sad, but true.

And I blame it on Facebook.

Ever since I got Facebook, I have not spent much time blogging.

But I am here now to write a blog.

What about? I do not know. I'm thinking I'll just make it up as I go along. Maybe starting with my biiiirthday! :)

I celebrated my 14th birthday last Tuesday. I had to do school :( but I still had a really nice day because two of my lovely sisters took me out for breakfast, and my one lovely mother took me out of lunch.

Then we had a banquet-like dinner which included crumbed chicken and Hannah. S.

Aaaand, on Saturday, I had my birthday party. I think there were about 17 of us.

We went for a swim, played basketball, ate pizza, played Mafia, ect. It was good :)

And- in other news- I have gotten yet another job :) This one is just once a week at a Primary School Canteen. I am, after one week, a champion sandwich maker!

Oh, and before I go- I would like to say that it is my third year on this blog! :)

My first post was on the 2/26/09

As of late...

I haven't been writing very much lately, so, to keep you up-to-date, I will say (in a bulleted list of course) what I have been doing in the last couple of weeks.

  • For Chrissie I recieved the most-awesome present of a drumset! It is really fantastic, and, so far, I have not heard a single complaint from my most patient parents.
  • Not long after that, I did my first shift at the Bakery. It's pretty good, but as I said a couple of posts ago...all the pies look the same! Most confusing!
  • I have also, in a very recent set of events, gotten ANOTHER job! Just one day a week, at a canteen. I haven't started yet, buuuut, I hope it goes wellll!
  • I visited Bourke just a week ago for a week and it was great! Jetskiing, swimming & chillin with friends!
  • I had my first driving lesson! Sort of...My friend Cherry let me drive her family's dune buggy. It was pretty mad. She had nerves of steel to put up with my panicking though.
  • Atm- (at the moment, for all or any of the oldies who read this blog and do not understand teenages 'acronyms'....I think that's right???) I am at home with only my dad. Lucky Mum and Jenna have made a getaway before school starts, and the others have all found something else to do =).
  • Oh yes, school again. Grade 9 this year. I'm making my way up. Slowly but surely.

S'all for today.

But I'll be back.

Friday, 12 November 2010

I have been very lousy at blogging lately. Personally I blame Facebook. Most of the time though I can't think of anything to say, but after a month or so of not writing...I should have something.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, my parents, Emily, and I left for the Sunshine Coast. We visited my grandparents and then my other grandfather. From there, we left for Diamond Beach, Seashells Resort, where we stayed for a week.

It was a really nice spot. The beach was really close (although whenever we walked on it we found dead crows/blackbirds all scattered up on the beach...weird...) and we used that to our advantage by walking on it and also flying kites on it. I would like to note here that I was the Master at kite flying, undisputedly...

Apart from the beach, there was a boiling, hot, bubbling spa! We spent heaps of time in it, probably really annoyed all the other holiday-ers because we kept bagging all the times..good fun...

And now we're back home. Back to school. And chores (which I should be doing now). And also Youth. Last night was a 70's night. I came home with three pet rocks. They are very cute. I named them Rachel, Franky...and the other is yet to be named...Barnabas?

But, taht's really all I have to write at the moment...so....ta-ta :)

Graffiti-ing The Street

I feel so busy lately...always a week, or two, between each blog post.
So now I'll sum it up.
The Shakespeare production was awesome. It was really funny and so fantastic. I wish I could see it again.
We got this week off school, on holidays one week early because Hannah and Angela came to stay.

There has been a lot of laughing...

Especially when we went swimming...if you can call it swimming. It was really a jump in and leap out. It has been really cold here lately and so the pool was worst than really cold. It was unbelievably freezing. I don't know what came over me.
Some pictures,

The strange thing was that when we actually got out of the pool, it was kind of nice because we were so numb and the air around us was a lot warmer than the pool had been.
We decided to graffiti the road. People were so nice, they kept purposely driving around all our drawings.

I've also been working on my blog this morning. It's not finished yet, but I've been so busy I'm not sure when I'll get to finish it. I'll work on finding some time...

Oh, and I'll just say that I read a really good book last week and wrote a book review about it. I've posted it in the book review section so you should check it out and then try to find a copy to read. I really liked it.

He Couldn't Dodge 'Em

Yesterday was the Condobolin show. It was good fun really, apart from that time I went on the Dodgem Cars. I've always loved them so I quickly took up the opportunity to go on one.
Emily went with me, riding passenger. Probably not a good idea when I'm driving.
But it wasn't my fault when we lost control of the wheel and went careering around with no control.
It wasn't my fault when other passengers were mortally injured because of our out-of-control car.
And it wasn't my fault when I banged into one of those guys in the yellow shirts who were trying to help the drivers.
He fell over, into one of the empty cars. I drove on. To this day, I still do not know if he made it. Perhaps I should sue for uncontrollable Dodgem Cars.

But that is not all, no that is not all. Here are 6 things you will most likely encounter at a show, whether you like it or not.

  1. A ride called 'The Zipper.' Warning: Do not go on this with an empty stomach. In fact, do not go on this at all. Emily lost $2, I lost my stomach.
  2. A man selling cool spray-on tattoos. Lasts for 10-14 days. Emily got a rose. I didn't get anything although she suggested I get the one saying 'I'm with stupid.' I still don't understand what she meant by that...
  3. Fairy floss. This just had to be one of the 6. After all, what would a show be without fairy floss? Be careful though, this evil sugar can be the cause of an awful Fairy Floss hangover. Ask Emily and Jenna if you don't believe me.
  4. While we're still in the food section: Dagwood Dogs. Those little sausage thingies covered in batter. Yuk.
  5. Untrustworthy show people. What am I to think when given a ticket saying 'You enter this at your own risk.' Um, how about...Ahhhh! Give me back my money!
  6. Scottish men in skirts. Nothing else to say about this. It was undeniable.

These things should all be avoided if you are trying to avoid bringing up your lunch, horrible headaches, or any other physical or mental damage. #6 could do all 3.

Quilt

After many monthly sewing lessons, I have finally finished the top of my quilt.
As I've said before, I don't really like sewing, but I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out...

Imagination

This is a poem I wrote yesterday. It's not very good, but it's based on a child's thoughts on holidays.
Imagination

‘I’m bored,’ the house was filled with comments of such,
‘There’s nothing to do, to play with, or touch.’
‘We’re fed up with Lego; the dolls are all dull,
The toys are all stupid; all we do is mull.

On things we could do, if we were only older,
Like go to Alaska, where all things are colder.
Like be a jet pilot, and fly in a plane,
To China, or Germany, perhaps even Spain!

Perhaps a magician, with tricks up his sleeve?
Or perhaps the president, who knows what we’d achieve!
We could be hairdressers or play rights on stage,
We could be fashion designers whose clothes are the rage.

But we’ll have to wait to do those things,
Wait to see what the summer brings,
‘Cause now we’re children to be ignored,
We’ll have to do with being bored.

That's it.

I don't really have much else to say. Not much has been happening lately. We are having two little girls to stay with us on the weekend. Their names are Indigo (Indie) and Mikyla. I bought one of them this dress at a garage sale last Saturday. It's really cute.

Anyway, I have to go and have breakfast.

Easter!!!

Here are some pictures of what I did this Easter. We went to Bourke, where we used to live and stayed at our old house.
What I probably enjoyed most was the Easter Sunrise Service. We got up at about 5:30 and went out to the place where it's usually held.
Here are some pictures of the service...

And of the pancakes we ate afterwards as part of the service...

The bonfire that people gathered around while eating the above...

And some more of the beautiful, serenity in Bourke.

This is a picture of some cotton I pulled off some cotton plants. The one on the left hasn't popped open yet.

I had a really nice time as I hadn't visited Bourke in ages.
I spent some time with my friends and playing 007 (James Bond) with my two sisters and dad.
Reeeaallly nice.
Anyway, probably should go get on with things that normal people get on with at 10:15 in the morning.

I smell like smoke!!!

After church at about 3:00 my family and I and some friends all went down to the river. It was really peaceful and nice.

We had a fire...

On which we cooked marshmallows...

And 'twisties', which is some dough put on a stick, cooked, then filled with either maple syrup or jam and cream.
I chose maple syrup.
Not a good idea.
I got very sticky while trying to eat it. We also had hot chocolates with marshmallows in them. I'm altogether too full to eat the nice-looking scrambled eggs that are waiting for me.

Anyway, I have to go and try to eat those lovely eggs,

Sewing...and more

I'm really glad that it's weekend right now. After a hard week of school I think I deserve a rest.

This morning Mum, and my two of my older sisters went forty-five minutes (Well, it was more like an hour with my sister driving) to a place where a group meets every month to sew.

I'm not really much of a sewer because I'm not very precise and also because I'm not very good at sitting still unless I'm reading a good book.
Anyway here is a picture of all the patches I have so far.

Supposedly in the end we are going to make it into a quilt. The top middle one is the one we did today. I think it's called buttercup.

Hmmm, what else is new? Well last night we had some friends over for dinner. Afterwards we watched, 'The Road to El Dorado.' That was pretty fun. That movie is so funny, especially if you watch the expressions on the characters faces.

I also wrote a new book review yesterday.

Here it is.

Chinese Cinderella: The Secret Story of an Unwanted Daughter
By Adeline Yen Mah

Chinese Cinderella is an enjoyable nonfiction book about the unfortunate life of a little girl, Adeline.
All through childhood, her brothers and sisters hated Adeline because her mother died while giving birth to her.
Since she was considered bad luck she was mostly left to herself, feeling useless and unwanted. Her stepmother, a young Eurasian beauty, hated her and mistreated her. Adeline is despised, unloved, and sent away from home, but Chinese Cinderella is not just the story of that, but also the telling of how she defeated, and overcame all of that to prove her value.
The author writes about her childhood, how she survived it, as well as telling a little about life in China during the 1940s and 50s.
I truly liked reading this book because Adeline’s childhood was full of interesting, yet sad stories.
A wonderful tale for ages 11 and up.
If you liked reading this book by Adeline Yen Mah, you might also enjoy Falling Leaves, a book for adults that expands on the moving story of her life.
I would rate this book three stars out of five.

That's it. I really like that book. The way the author writes it is pretty cool.

In other news I got a new jumper. This is picture of it.

I'll probably take it with me to Bourke where my family and I are most likely going for Easter.

That's all I have to say for now,
Jordan
